Large Tower Screw Shell ~ Size: 8 - 10cm

Classification: Turritella terebra Linne

These shells are called screw shells because of the very nature of their appearance!

This shell is an elegant shell with regular descending spiral ribs and rounded whorls from the tip down to the aperture at the bottom of the shell.

The colour is often a mixture of dark/light brown and cream towards the tip of the shell.

Screw Shell

  • Ecological Note

Species of these natural spiral screw shells are found worldwide in sand and sandy mud at a variety of depths. The largest shells which can be up to 150mm (6inch) long are found in the Indo-pacific.

  • Seashell Therapy

The tower screw shell is a gastropod. In seashell healing the gastropod represents a more intense energy and can be in the case of this shell, be directed with it's point anywhere to an area of pain.

The spiral shape of this shell also lends itself to look to the future, to `let go` of the past and to see that every new tide brings in a fresh new energy. This shell is also very good to hold and rub the finger and thumb along the raised spiral ribs, and breath slowly, ask the shell to allow a calm energy enter your hand, up the arm to help relax the mind and anxiety related symptoms.

I use these shells to amplify the healing energy to clear blockages in the subtle body, before this can manifest into a physical pain or condition.

Also to help purify, stabilise, cleanse and balance the mind, body and spirit.

This shell can teach us to have more patience with its circulating spiral, what we put out to the universe, we will in turn receive, by the ebb and flow of the tide and the balance of the water in our own body.
